Sivill and Keeling House
Keeling House is located near Bethnal Green Station. It was build by Denys Lasdun who was a member of the architectural Tecton Group. It's unusual shape was designed with four wings that look onto each other to encourage contact between neighbours. The architect was concerned with the anonymity of other modernist buildings, and wanted to re-create the interaction of communities, as they existed in Victorian terraced streets.
Keeling House underwent a major refurbishment in 2002 and won a RIBA award.
Sivill House is close to Columbia Road Flower Market and was designed in 1962 by Berthold Lubetkin also a member and successor of the Tecton Group.
